I went to do a post about our pool day yesterday, but when I checked my email a sweet friend had sent this to me. I knew it would be special so I called the boys in and we watched it together. I cried through the entire thing with chill bumps. You will not regret the 3 minutes you spend watching it.
better to have a short life doing what you love

Yes! This is why we are unschooling our son. Why my husband and I left amazing jobs (at Fortune’s #1 best company to work for) so he could go to do the sort of work he truly wanted to do and for me to stay home. We walked away from so much money, but he’s a different person and I wouldn’t trade these last six and a half years for anything.
Someday I’d love to take our family on the road full time, and I think that dream’s time will come.
wow, I bet that was so hard to leave the money, that is a special story! We have not looked back either from Jarrett quitting his job, it is still hard some days figuring it all out, but I am so excited to see where this road leads us:) thanks for sharing your story! xoxo
Made me think, especially during this time of soul-searching for our family. The Ghandi quote at the end is one of my favorites too. Your family is a true reflection of this and is one of the reasons you are all so inspiring! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Sarah, it made me think so much too! I am always thinking of new ways to streamline my life to make it more enjoyable and it was so nice to get a good reminder. I loved the quote too:) xoxo
Love this! What I love even more is that y’all are doing it! yay!!! I want this for our boys and I hope to figure out how to do just that:) I know it will not be easy but I also know that they deserve the world and it is my job to give them that in some way, even while living in Texas! Love you and thanks for sharing..really cool!!
oh living in Texas is like living in another world! as soon as we can afford to live there again, we totally will for awhile! it is on the top of our list;) love you sister and you totally give your boys the best life!
You are so right Chelsea … Sooo worth three minutes and I too was in tears the entire video. Every word is so true! Xoxo s
i know, it is so emotive and beautiful! i listened to it on loop for over an hour while I was on the computer!
loved it! worth watching and so so true!
I know, its is cool!
This is such perfect timing for us – Dave (hubby) and I are looking for work…and we have realised that we are looking at jobs because we need the work, not because we would like to work in that job…
I am going to be thinking of this video in the next few days – and have shared it on our facebook page
Sure is a good wake up call! Thanks for sharing
I know, work is such a hard thing. We go back and forth all the time with jarrett’s current job b/c its not exactly what we want, but it is better than his old one since we are getting to travel and he has time to write. So, we will keep working through it until we find what works, it has been a fun journey so far, I cant wait to see what is next for us and your family too! I can’t wait to see what you guys decide! xoxo
Thank you!!! Reading your blog these few months, thinking about my family in transition (like NewLife)… I *thought* that what I *REALLY* wanted to do was travel with my family, homeschool and see the world. Then I felt offended that he said I was “stupid” for not doing it…because I am NOT unhappy! I love my life! Then I realized what I *REALLY* wanted to do…I am already doing. I want to be a mother…and I love it more than any travel I could ever take. There is no “good fee”…but this realization is priceless! I also put this on facebook. It is ironic that facing my sense of failure (about NOT homeschooling and traveling, yet) brought me full-circle to just how well I *am* doing and how very, very happy motherhood makes me. It completes all of us in my home, and (to use his words)…I AM “the master of it”. (insert silly grin here). Thanks, Chelsea…
you are soooo right Meg!!!! I totally get what you are saying! Before we were traveling, I was totally content not traveling and just being a mama, but now we are on to something new. I think it changes all the time and the key is being happy and content, and when you aren’t any more then change it. But if you are happy, then just enjoy it baby! i loved your words meg! xoxo
Incredible video! Thanks for sharing and thanks for being such a true inspiration & example of what the video is about! Lots of love!
thanks Aunt Jalene-love you
