It is amazing how 30 hours can change your life. We went from working to get the book out on the Kindle and hoping our friends and family actually had one, to imagining them cuddled on their couch with a hard copy in their hands in a matter of minutes. It was unreal, and something we just recently started dreaming of and then it just happened. Following After Trek will be a paperback and hopefully you will see it at your local bookstore on the shelf!
The past 2 weeks have flown by, I cannot believe I pushed the button for our Kickstarter 15 days ago, it flew by in a flash of coffee, undies, and bacon.
My poor kids, they barely saw the light of day, Jarrett and I both have a permanent indention of a laptop on our legs from all of the editing we have been doing. Will it ever be perfect? Jarrett just told me that he read of a popular author who still reads his books and finds errors. Oh my.
The boys have been so sweet and have been entertaining each other or being entertained by movies or their Nintendo DS. We all have been messing up the house and not bothering to clean it, who has time? Anyone who has even been to my house in Maui knows that it usually looked like this, but right now I have a good reason so I am blaming the editing.
Conner playing Mario Brothers, poor guy he looks like he is in the corner, well he is, but I did not put him there.
I have managed to keep us all fed. I usually make bacon and egg sandwiches for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, its the only thing I recognize to cook at the market. Then run out to get some Thai food for the other meals.
Its actually getting kind of gross, the lady at the bacon store saw Conner walk in the other day and went to get him a package.
We made Jarrett some signs to hang around the house a few weeks ago, they were for when he was writing the book and they were cute, now they haunt me since I am now working on the book too. Especially this one-
Alright I get it.
Amazingly we have managed to get in lots of homeschooling, someone pulled out all of the workbooks a few days ago and they have stayed out, since no one is cleaning. So anytime we see them we just open them and work, even if we just skip all the boring parts and do the puzzles at the bottom of the page.
The mess and the clogged arteries have all been worth it. As of right now with just over 2 hours left of our Kickstarter, we have $6000 to print hundreds of copies Following After Trek! Thank you all so much this has been such an amazing 2 weeks of seeing our dreams unfold. Here’s hoping the boys will not need therapy for being babysat by the DVD player all week.
a massive congratulations sent your way – and yep both boys will be fine
thank you so much Lisa:) xoxo
Haha ~ the first pic of the boys, I thought “Conner looks like he’s in time-out”, but of course I knew better! I admire you for letting your house looked ‘”lived in”, ’cause you know how I am! Funny about the bacon store – almost sounds like that’s all they carry, but I can just hear Conner say, “Let’s go to the bacon store”. Love the signs of encouragement and am so proud of y’all for turning your vision into a reality! Congrats on the surpassed goal on Kickstarter ~ lots of love, hugs & kisses!
i know about Conner, I laughed when I saw the picture:) and I LOVE your clean house, I used to go over to Amanda’s house and just sit there because it was clean and she would serve me sweet tea. Those were the days….:)
Woot, woot! Yippee! Doin’ the Snoopy Dance with all of you. Can’t wait to read it and to give my sweet Mama her copy – she is looking forward to it. And don’t you worry about those boys – they are learning all of the most important things in life from their awesome Mama and Daddy – they’re gonna be just fine!
thank you CAthy and your mama:) xoxo
It’s my favorite that you called it the bacon store. Our go-to meal is also bacon-related. We cook the bacon and then make a fried egg right on top of it, with the bacon still in the pan. And then we serve it over rice. You should try it if you (somehow) get sick of bacon sangers.
ok that sounds delicious! i will definately have to try that! that sounds like something they would make in texas! where did you learn that from?!
Don’t worry. some children are raised by video games and TV all their lives, Congratulations!!!Kickstart was more than successful and you are very loved. I can’t wait to read the book on my new Kindle. UH, are children who are raised by video games the ones who come back and kill their parents? Can’t remember. Maybe I will Google it. HA! You are the best parents in the world and I love you and your neglected children.
bahahaha, oh MawMaw you are so funny! Yes and no, but my kids are going to of course be in the “no” category:) love you so much, from the mom of the neglected children
Congratulations!! If it helps, my house looks pretty similar and it’s just the result of parenting/homeschooling three kiddos!! Can’t wait to read the book!

Big congrats! My house looks the same and all I’ve done was attempted to make some dinner. xoxo
haha that is so funny Maile, i get it and i love it:)
I LOVE IT!! I love your house like this:) I know you both have been working soooooo hard, more than anyone could imagine, on the book and I also know you still took time to be the best mama to your boys. You have always been able to juggle all of that and still be the sweetest, most fun mom. You are almost done and then I just know the book will take off all over the world and everyone will know about sweet Trek! All because his mama and daddy took time to share:) Thank you for taking us all on your journey, it is beautiful.
i love you amanda, how can i even respond to your sweetest comments? i am so lucky to have you
Lol! Love the last sentence. I’ll cheers to that!
Congrats to Jarrett & you!

Congratulations! Cant wait to read it. The boys will not only recover, they will remember that stretch of time fondly. P.S. the bacon is a wonderfully versatile food and you should not spend a day without it!
thanks about the bacon pep talk, I feel better now:) I am so thankful the boys are very forgiving-I am a lucky mom.
Congratulations on kickstart!!! My house usually looks just like that (or worse)! How dare you talk bad about-bacon! hehe:)
P.S. In your “monkey” post, Will keeps having me go to the picture of the temple, he wants to live in it, hehe!

Hi Chelsea, you don’t know me personally. I found your blog from a friend of mine. Our children have Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. My daughter, Dakota is 11 yrs old, a twin and hers is Systemic (also known as Stills Disease). She is on Hospital/Homebound while her twin sister gets to go to middle school everyday. Dakota and I love following you and your family thru your blog. I bought Jarrett’s childrens book about 3 brothers at the beach. Dakota loves reading it over and over and looking at the pictures. Anyway, what made me write to you today was when I saw your proverb on your sign, Vision without action is daydream. Dakota and I smiled and laughed because her team is Dakota’s Dreamwalkers and our quote is :Goals are just dreams with Deadlines! We are so excited to see Jarrett’s book in paperback. When life gets crazy and you are overwhelmed with questions rather than answers, please just know that your family has reached so many people, people struggling with illnesses and problems, who have found strength from the Ingram Family. Hugs to all of you!
wow wilma, that was such a kind and thoughtful message. thank you so much for sharing the story of your sweet daughters and about how much they loved Jarrett’s book. That meant so much to me and Dakota made me smile and at the same time sad, I am sorry she is sick, but she sounds like a amazing sweet girl. I also love your quote-thank you and tell Dakota thank you. much love from us to you,Chelsea
