We do all kinds of stuff for homeschooling. Most of it is done in our daily interactions just by the boys asking questions and us answering them. They are sponges! Some days are fun workbooks or crafts. This particular day we spent the whole morning painting rocks, it was so fun and relaxing.
first they needed baths
scrub, scrub. we used the boys’ toothbrushes so we had to go out and buy more after we finished (hehe)
i think this was their favorite part they washed them for almost an hour
Peyton’s clean and dried rocks
Conner’s 10 rocks
i painted one rock red and I also painted a plumeria flower and made a stamp out of it
the new centerpiece on our table

Such an amazing mother. I don’t think I could imagine a more amazing person!
I think I should take you out sometime. What are you doing tomorrow?
I agree, Jarrett! She is an amazing woman & mother. I think you two would make a great couple!
thanks aunt jalene:)
you can totally take me out!!! i love you so much
What a beautiful art project & centerpiece. I’m guessing part of the homeschooling in this was counting? Such a creative stamp the teacher made, too! Good job, Peyton & Conner….keep up the good work!
thank you about my stamp-hehe. I actually had no learning associated with our rock painting, I just wanted us to have fun. I feel like so often with children and adults there has to be a greater purpose in all that we do and it can take the joy out of life and also make it so we don’t really know what we “like” to do. So sometimes we just do things b/c they sound fun, I am learning this from the boys since as an adult it is such a hard concept to learn and children are the best at having fun! love you
How cute are those rocks?!!. I have 2 boys and we homeschool as well. Very good project!! I have been following your journey for a while now. I found it through Kaitlyns Korner and fell in love with sweet little Trek. What a precious baby!!! I check your page daily to how you guys are doing and to look at your amazing pictures. We do not really travel a lot and your pictures show me how beautiful the world really is. You do such a great job with your camera. I have often thought, I wish I could take pics like Chelsea !! Did you take classes? I have wondered to myself, if I had a camera like hers, would I be able to do that good with it? I have always wanted a good camera but just not sure what kind or if I would even be able to use it. I love how you blur the background out in some of them. You will have amazing memories with those pics. I love what your family is doing and can’t wait to get Jarret’s book !!! Take care. Luv you guys.
HI Amy! thanks for introducing yourself and for following us. I am sure your boys would love painting rocks, sometimes it is nice to just play and do something creative with no learning purpose, just to enjoy a project and each other. Thank you about my pictures-that is so nice! This is my camera, http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0007QKN22/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1349541300&sr=8-1&keywords=canon+rebel+xt&condition=used
they have a newer version that is $500, I got this version used from Amazon and have had no issues, the person before me took great care of it so I lucked out. I paid $250 for it. You can totally do it. My friend who is a photographer set it on all the best settings and showed me which one to use that blurs out the background and I don’t ever change it! Blogging and having a nice camera makes me try more creative things with shots b/c it is so fun! Thanks about Jarrett’s book-I can’t wait for you to read it:) much love, Chelsea
love this idea! so fun and creative..i agree sometimes no learning is necessary just thinking of something fun and doing it together:) Love this! What a beautiful centerpiece you all made! Love you and wish I was closer to do fun things like this with you and our boys. Love the plumeria stamp:) love you!
thanks amanda-i love looking at my centerpiece:) its better than flowers
Tell Peyton and Conner that they can paint my bald head the next time we get together, as some people say it is like a rock.
they would like that as long as you also do the peck pop of love
So fun, and of course they are learning!…..textures, primary and secondary colors, fine motor skills and creative thinking. Fantastic! Try making them into little animals next time too. Oh and Jarrett, that was so sweet!
Peace and aloha!
animals! what a fun idea, we will have to try that-thanks for the idea
I love this–cleaning rocks with a toothbrush was one of my favorite things to do when I was little. Me and my friends in the neighborhood would spend hours. Love how you’re letting your boys be boys–you’re a great mom
thank you so much Courtney! we had so much fun:) xoxo
