We went to the mall in Chiang Rai, malls and us and crowds and things we can’t afford are a bad combo. Temper tantrums galor, but at least the boys behaved. We had an ok time, but overall it was a little manic being in the mall for us country folks used to rice paddies and chicken legs. But then we went outside to leave. It was so quiet and peaceful, someone was playing cheesy Celine Dion songs and it felt like Christmas magic. The mall had lights all along the side that changed from color to color, Jarrett grabbed me and we danced and the boys ran around like wild indians. It was such a surprise nice ending to our day. Then we saw it, the slides.
Ok they were not really slides, and we got kicked out. Yes we it is true. That is why I am sorry (but not really).
Just wait until December. Everything is done up in white lights for HM the King’s birthday, and it’s a little cooler (not cold, of course, but chillier) and the malls play Christmas music. If it’s your first Christmas away from the States is can feel odd, but if you throw expectations out the window, Christmas in Thailand can be both strange and wonderful.
oooh how fun!!! that sounds so unique, I am excited to see it if we are still here!
นักท่องเที่ยวชาวอเมริกันบ้า! I know you don’t read Thai, but this says “Crazy American tourists!” Love your “kid at heart” pics and so glad you are Embracing Life each and every day. By the way, it really does say that because I Googled English to Thai translation
you are the coolest aunt ever! i love that you wrote me in Thai. do you see why I don’t read it? geez!!! when I ask how to say something in Thai I cannot even repeat it back, it is so hard. It makes me really miss Spanish-it is so easy compared to this. I will just keep with my hand signals:)
Thanks for starting my day with a smile!
you are welcome Billie!
How funny and fun! Any person with an imagination would have done the same:) Glad you were able to have a couple good runs before getting kicked out! You look beautiful, as always. Love and miss all of you so much.
thanks mama-we actually went down for about 20 minutes before we got in trouble, so we got all of our sliding in:) love and miss you too
hahahahaha I know that was sooo worth getting kicked out! how fun, I love the one of you sliding…super cute dress by the way! I’m glad it was a nice ending to your day and that you all got to slide…did Jarrett slide? Miss you sister! love you
I can’t remember now if Jarrett went down the slide, maybe once? geez I feel like a loser-I was only there! maybe i was so involved in my own glee I did not care about anyone elses. thanks about the dress i got it in Phuket, i thought it was a good deal at the time, but now that I have traveled further into Thailand I realize I was ripped off-ha!
You guys are wonderful
