We have been having the best time on this visa run. We have fed monkeys, got the boys their 6th passport stamp, and had some Kentucky Fried Chicken. I had big plans to explore all of Chiang Rai, but we have ended up staying at the hotel and playing most of the time. We are staying at Chang Garden family holiday park. We have a family cottage which is so nice and spacious, it has been nice to spread out, we even each have our own couch or chair in the living room! It has a kitchen, an A/C, and the hottest shower we have had in months so we are feeling pretty pampered. It is run by two very kind Dutch women who have been so accommodating and helpful.

our cute little cottage

a king size bed!!! so nice and cozy and we just pulled in one of the twin mattresses from the other room on the floor-no one wanted to sleep across the hall alone

- our little kitchen that overlooks a rice field
Our hotel is 30 km outside of Chiang Rai, I was worried it would be too far from town, but it is actually close to all of the temples and the border of Myanmar so it has worked out so great. The hotel is built in orchard so we are surrounded by so much beauty and nature. Even though we love our little house the main reason we don’t leave the resort is because it has a killer pool. Peyton and Conner LOVE pools and I think would be happy if we never left our house if we only had a pool! It has a swim up bar, lots of seating and even a little kiddie pool.

super fun pool

- playing frisbee with dad
Even though I am never surprised, I am always moved when I see it, there was a reminder of Trek as there has been every place we have gone since he died.
We have one more night here in Chiang Rai, with big plans to play at the pool one last time and maybe watch a family movie. The restaurant at the hotel is so cute, it is full of toys and games for the kids to play, I think we might have dinner here too. Tomorrow we head back to Pai, armed with 60 more days on our Thailand visa!

Wow, Chelsea – what a great place for a “business” trip! So glad you are all having a ball. Was thinking of you this past weekend when my hubby and I took a short trip to a place I had never been and we had a chance to “Embrace Life”, including biking around an island in gale-force winds. It was exhilarating to turn what could have been a downer into a wonderful day! Thanks for helping me learn to do that! And looovvve the plumeria inlay and that Trek is there waiting for you wherever you go.
Cathy that is so wonderful-what a fun weekend you had!!! thank you for sharing that and for always having such kind things to say-much love, Chelsea
thank you so much Nancy-love you too.
Super super fun!!! Have so much fun…love the pool action photos…love the sweet reminders of ur angel baby boy. Miss and love you all! And yay for a hot shower;)
oh a hot shower-its the little things:) love you so much sister-xoxo
I love this post! I love the cottage and it looks like a great way to enjoy the task of the visa renewal. Tell everyone we say hello
Tell Conner and Peyton Abby says hi
I told the boys she said Hi, they said hi back:) love you guys and miss you-xoxo
Hmmm…..is that a sprayer by the toilet? If so, I’m afraid to know what it’s used for!
Yea for enough hot water to shave your legs! Cute place, fun pics, & beautiful reminder of Trek. Lots of love!
Well it’s not for washing dishes!
haha-nope! definately not:)
LOL…I was going to ask the same thing! Glad y’all are enjoying the area.
its a Thailand bidet-you squirt your butt with it-they have those instead of toilet paper!! haha, i just bring a roll of toilet paper with me:)
Just as I suspected! I knew you adhered to BYOTP, but I was hoping it was for something different
not for me, but the boys LOVE the sprayer!
Love that pool! I reckon our boys would be in there the whole time as well
With regards to the visa – do you have to get one every 60 days? Is that the longest they have?
Love the idea of hot water – we have to be careful or ours runs out (yeah i never finish shaving my legs either!)
The flowers are so sweet.
I know-children and pools-they are so fun! We got double entry visas. They are good for 60 days then to Chiang Mai for a renewal for 30 days, then we have to leave the country and come back and we get 60 more and the 30 day extension again. Its actually kind of a pain in the butt! haha
I have seen signs before that we are being watched by and cared for by those who go before us. But never in such abundance as those signs that Trek leaves. Much love! The pool look delicious! Enjoy!
I’ve missed your posts! What a gorgeous place, I would struggle to leave, your cottage looks so cool! You guys always find the nicest places, I think Trek has a hand in that, he definitely has good taste!
thank you Emma-I was sad not to be able to post too this week-we had no internet for 4 days, it was nice and hard at the same time. It is good to hear from you! xoxo, Chelsea
Love to have had you stay at our place. This was our dream from the beginning; let families and friends really enjoy themselves and revive. Compliments to the kids, they will become proud world citizens one day, polite and grounded with broad vision. You are doing a fine job with them.
Good luck on your journeys, hope to see you again. Astrid & Yvon (Chang Garden)
Thank you so much Astrid and Yvon-it was such a joy and a nice vacation to be at your place. It was lovely meeting you and if we are in Chaing Rai again we will definately stay there:) much love, Chelsea
Hi how are you:) hope you are fine. I just love your pictures and can imagine you had a great time there. Atleast now I can make a plan by seeing your happy album.
thank you so much!
