We had a map, a tank full of gas, and a dream to find a waterfall. We never made it, but this time the journey really was the destination. We arrived home 6 hours after we left with a sore butt, no waterfall, and lots of fun memories.within minutes of leaving I was hit by this large and pretty beetle-it hurt so bad right on my neck! big ol meanie
a perfect day for a drive
Jarrett and Conner out to explore the world
it was soooo hot! we could not wait to jump into the waterfall, we stopped for a cold drink
this cute little boy was checking us out while we bought our drinks
about 2 hours in we came to this sign-25km to waterfall and 2 km to hot spring, we decided to takeĀ a little detour to check out the hot springs. We were hoping it would be cool enough for us to swim in
not a chance! we would have lost a foot if we had fell into this hot spring!
it smelled like sulphur and it was so beautiful
flowing streams of scalding hot water
boiling water at some partshot water fall
praying mantis
at this point we were totally over heated. the day was so hot and then the steaming hot springs, we went down stream hoping the water would cool off, but it was just as scalding 1 km down river
After getting back on the road we continued on to the water fall. It took us over 1 hour to go 20 km. The road was bumpy dirt and full of potholes. We finally came across a little stream and jumped in, calling it a day. We talked to a guy on the way back down that said the waterfall was dried up right now-hehe.
we finally made it back home over 6 hours after we left. This is Conner on the way home-it was a good day
Today is my birthday so I read yesterday’s posting and watched all all of the video and laughed-so much family fun and you have a budding news commentator in the family! Thanks for being a part of my special day, friends!
Fondly (from your older friend now..
Connie in Ohio
Happy birthday Connie! i am glad we gave you a birthday laugh:) xoxo
Connor’s smile in this last photo is just angelic! Sounds like your day made for a good night’s sleep for everyone. What a beautiful place!
thank you about Conner and yes we slept soo good!
I love seeing you blog about these places. Though I’ve seen them myself, it’s beautiful to see them through another’s eyes. It makes me want to notice more about what i’m seeing around me.
thank you so much Robin! writing about them makes me notice more too:) xoox
Love your boys they are just too too cute!
thank you so much Nancy-i think so too:)
So, you entertained me on my birthday (9/21) also….. too funny. Perhaps the Virgos should consolidate our replies.
What a fun journey you are sharing with us!!
Happy birthday, Nanci! Good idea on the Virgos Who Love the Ingrams!
Count me in!
thanks so much:)
That video made me laugh on my birthday too!
haha, I am so glad:) xoxo
happy birthday Nanci!!! I have my necklace and I LOVE it-I am going to take a picture and post it soon-much love, Chelsea
It’s not the destination, it’s the journey that makes the most wonderful memories!!
i agree Jill-xoxo
You capture the most beautiful pictures! I am cracking up at the one of Peyton in your side mirror, so cute! I love the one of Jarrett and Conner in front of you cruising in the beautiful country! I’m sorry you never got to the waterfall, bummer:( Glad it turned out to still be a great day. What cute travel buddies you have, hehe:) love you!
i have the cutest buddies-thanks for noticing:) and i love the one of jarrett and conner too-it is how i feel about our life right now, on a amazing road to somewhere, but i have no idea where!
The above comment is actually from me, Auntie Amanda, it posted that from Granny’s computer:)
How funny! I was reading “Granny’s” comment and thought “that don’t sound like Mama”! The ‘cracking up’, ‘bummer’, and ‘hehe’ really got me
haha
The last picture of Conner is precious, he looks like a little baby, that sweet smile:) Bummer you didn’t find the waterfall, but glad you still had a fun adventure!
i know-Conner still is a baby:) hehe
It sounds like you had a good journey anyway. It had to be a relief that you didn’t really miss anything when you found out the waterfall was dried up. However, now you know where you can go swimming in the winter or where you can go wash clothes with hot water
I noticed a dog in a picture with Peyton ~ how did Conner react to the dog since his last encounter with a mean one?
Now, here comes the “motherly” side of Aunt Jalene ~ in the States, we consider texting & driving very dangerous, so I would think that in Thailand it is just as dangerous to take photos and drive!
Love y’all!
haha, oh Aunt Jalene, you are so funny. I pulled over on the side of the road to take all those photos, Peyton is very patient with me always pulling over. Conner is not afraid of dogs even though he actually got bit 2 days ago by one, it is sad he loves them so much but they always attack him! we have to be really careful around them and hold him when we see one, so they can’t get him. i also had a good laugh at washing my clothes in the hot springs-you are so smart! xoxo
Looking at these pics, I want to come to Thailand and play with you, friend! I want to get a cheap pedi, cry together, laugh together, head to the local Pad Thai place, hop on the scooter and explore, too
And get my hair straightened
Loving your adventures and the beautiful pictures. Praying for your hearts, too, always xoxox
thank you so much adrienne, i would like that so much!!! love you friend. xoxo
