I tried to think of a creative title for this but there is really nothing that combines these 11 photos, so I just left it as “things”. These are 11 photos from the past week that I really like, but stand alone and I could not really write an entire post about them. So here it is-11 things.
Thing 1~
I am not a cat person or a dog person or an animal person for that matter, but I was stopped in my tracks by this adorable kitten. She was just so fluffy and cute and expensive looking that I just had to snap a picture of her.
Thing 2~
I was also stopped in my tracks by this little angel. I could not stop oohing and awwing over her and they finally just handed her to me for a snuggle
Thing 3~
Getting our first care package in the mail all the way from America-with cool American things! It was like Christmas-thanks Nana and PapaT and the Sommervilles and Granny and Granddaddy!
Thing 4~
We hit the jackpot!!! hundreds of original English DVD’s for 50 baht ($1.60 each). I think it used to be a rental store and they are selling all of them. We go every few days and stock up.
Thing 5~
Our Thai neighbor Wow brought us over some sticky mango rice with coconut milk cream. She even colored the rice and put it into a heart shape-I hardly wanted to eat it because it was so pretty, but I overcame and it was delish!
Thing 6~
Peyton made Jarrett a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for a surprise. Complete with a domino DAD.
Thing 7~
Conner+time alone+entire bottle of hair gel=rock star
Thing 8~
We were walking the streets of Chiang Mai, when I saw this little boy. I was mesmerized by his beauty and I knew he was the same age Trek would have been. I usually only take photos of people if I ask them first but I could not help myself, I stole a shot of him. I stopped to talk to his mama and he was 17 months old, just like Trek, it made me wonder the rest of the day what Trek would have looked like.
Thing 9~
Chinese ferris wheel-video here
Chinese bean buns-the only way I can describe them is the best homemade yeast roll I have ever tasted that was then deep fried. I cannot believe they don’t make these things in Texas. to-die-for
Thing 11~
Fire man filling up his truck in the drainage ditch by our house
Thanks for the local pictures. I really enjoy seeing the country, the people and how you are living with them. Those are beautiful children. They looked like they could belong to you.. Conner, you made a very good rock star hair style. And last to all, send the bun receipt tolittle sister so she can learn to make them. I hope to visit her as soon as I can.. Love to all.
P.S. The song ( I think it was a Roy Rogers theme) said Happy Trails to You until we meet again. I think Trek would sing it to you.
me too mawmaw-i will have to get jarrett to download it for us:)
I have seriously never had any wish to go to Thailand. I like to travel but that has never been on my list of places to go. Until now. You make it so real and I may just have to check it out someday… Great pics!
you will! it is really special, i am glad we are here spending the most amount of time-there are so many things to see and do!
aww i love this post!! cute kitten, precious babies, most adorable peanut butter and jelly sandwich/lego dad name ever!, most hilarious use of hair gel, fun care packages, super cool dvd store, beautiful heart rainbow rice, and lots more I could say about those 11 things. The kittens eyes were so blue, they caught my attention like sweet Trek’s blue eyes. I too could tell that sweet baby was Trek’s age, I cannot imagine your pain and how much these beautiful reminders make you think of your sweet boy. He is so beautiful and everything beautiful must remind you of him. I love and miss you all.
Um I really need a recipe for those delish rolls!! They look amazing:)
I meant to say domino name not lego name, Chet just yelled at me for typing it wrong haha
i am pretty sure you just need to make your famous rolls and then deep fry them-muahahahaha
i know it is hard, i can always know which babies are his age and it makes me daydream about how he would have been all day long. i really miss him.
I know sister, I cannot imagine how much you miss him:( love you
love you too
Yummy on all counts, the food, the babies, your boys and you, and the cat of course!
thank you so much Emma:)
Kitty! I have the voice of Boo in my head from Monsters Inc. I’m with you on the babies! I’m going to be that little old lady that stalks young moms around the grocery store hoping for a cheeky smile. I have two of my own right now a 1 and a 2 yr old, but my neighbors is brand new and I grab her any chance I get:).
haha-that is so funny-i will be that sneaky old lady too:) I must have tons of children so I can bunches of grandchildren and never be without a baby in my arms:) have fun with your brand new neighbor baby-and with your two littles-i love those ages!
From the fourth grade class: We are so jealous of the Chinese ferris wheel…it looks like a lot of fun!! We think Chelsea got a good workout and looks strong. The video was fun to watch. The bean buns look delicious!
your fourth graders would have loved it!!! and the bean buns-thank you for sharing this with them:) xoxo
Love all 11 pics! Horray for Christmas in September in Pai! I was at Granny’s a couple of days after the package was mailed or else I would’ve sent some goodies too!
At first when I saw the “bean buns” I was wondering what kind of beans they put in ‘em, but then I read the description and there are no beans at all. They do look delicious, though. I’m pretty sure I would prefer them without beans.
Keep enjoying each moment and each sight you see! Lots and lots of squishy hugs for the boys ~ a nice, gentle hug for Jarrett ~ and a cushy, loving hug for you!
thanks for the virtual hugs- i can’t wait to give you a real one. I agree with the bean buns, no beans for me! xoxo
Wow, that sums up your week..almost!
I thought of Trek all day yesterday for some reason and while I was at the spa (I got a treat! Yay!), I shared Trek’s story to every lady who pampered me. Then I met the best cab driver ever and of course, I told him about your family too. He sends his regards and said to keep up the adventures!
It completed my birthday. Love that the boys received a care package from home. Do you guys know until when you’re staying in Thailand?
Thank you so much Marie-you are so sweet to share our story and about Trek. I am glad you got a birthday treat you deserve it! We will be here until the last week in November. xoxo
I. LOVE. THAT. KITTY!!!! AAAAAAH! does she live close by??
haha, that is so funny you said that, I thought of you when I posted that picture:) i saw her at the gas station, i am not sure where she lives.
