One of our new British friends in town told us about Om Garden restaurant. I am glad he did because if is the best food we have had in Pai and we would have never found it if he had not told us-it is down a random alley. Picking out a place to eat lunch and dinner everyday is one of our favorite things of our life right now. Most of the food we eat is Thai, it is cheap, quick and delicious. Om garden is a fusion of meats, homemade bread, and bright colored vegetables. The menu changes every day and we have loved every single one even though sometimes we have no idea what we are ordering!
I have loved all the different foods that we have been introduced to since we have been travelling. The boys have done such a good job trying new things. When all else fails every place we have been to has chicken and rice which they will always gobble up.
some people just kill me with their creativeness! this is made out of toilet paper rolls
the menu, drinks, and food are all come out of this little stand
oooh, I’ll have an order of that cuteness!
my order-homemade foccacia bread, homemade yogurt, hummus and tons of veggies
Jarrett’s salad with chicken, crunchy yummy things, and vegetables
Conner skipping out with a happy belly of chicken and rice and ready to go swimming
spiritual house where Buddhists leave food, drink, and flower offerings
We have seen such a change in ourselves since we have been in Pai. All the food we eat is prepared fresh right in front of us by a Thai grandma, it is just like cooking at home. When we went to Chiang Mai last week we enjoyed 3 days of fast food! It was a nice break, McDonalds and Burger King deliver to your hotel 24 hours a day-oh yeah baby. We had so much fun with our old favorites, but man oh man were we sick! We all just felt icky the whole time and only when we were headed out of Chiang Mai and I saw a roadside food stand did I get it. I almost ran off the road in excitement! I am in love with Thai food!
your food looked usper yummy! I love that you are all getting to try all these new things, how cool for your boys! cannot wait to hear about your next adventure!
ps. I would like to order 2 orders of those cuties please!
ok sending him to Texas right away:) NEVER!!! that item is not for delivery, you will have to come to Thailand:) You would have loved that food, it was different but freakin awesome! love you sister
Homemade food is always so much better than fast food. Fresh ingredients made with love.
I agree Jill, it is especially good since someone else cooks it-hehe
You find the most amazing places. The food looked delicious and best of all, you did’nt have cook it. Happy adventures. I love you all.
we were lucky to be told about it-it is soo yummy! and yes mawmaw-not having to cook-HECK YEAH! love you
Chelsea, there is a USA postal calculator for those of us in the states (would think it would be reciprocal?) and my postcards from Ohio will cost $1.05 each it says. Here is the USA link:

For those of us new to your family, so enjoyed seeing Peyton’s birthday photos and enjoyed your loving tribute to your big boy.
Sincerely,

Your Ohio friend
I have never had a friend from Ohio! yeah:) Thanks for looking that up for everyone! I will pass it along-xoxo
We ate in a noisy, busy restaurant last night, and today as I look at your photos of the quiet, simple, serene place you chose to eat- I am so envious! (in a good way) It just looks like you can really relax and enjoy your food. I am glad your family is able to enjoy life right now without the hustle and bustle of schedules that overtake what is life….
thank you so much for sharing that Bev. Part of me likes being around people and business, it excites me, but right now after losing Trek I crave peace and simplicity. We have found the perfect place here in Pai, it has been a dream and such an amazing place to heal a little bit. thanks for keeping up with our family-xoxo
What a quaint little place. The menu cracked me up….Set A, Set B….! Looks yummy & I’m pretty sure I would be sick, too from the fast food! Lots of love!
Continued… Writing in the dark by candlelight outside, pushed the wrong button. I have been following you since your interview with 1 dad, 1 kid. I would love to expose my six year old daughter to this life. How long do you expect to be there? Do you recommend a single mom and child? Do you ever feel that you are in harms way? I am a special education teacher. Do you hear of any needs for American teachers there? I am so tired of the bullying . I just want to escape with my beautiful girl before her love of life and learning is taken away from her by mean girls!!! So tired!!
Hi Terri and Hannah, wow thanks for following us! and thanks for all your questions-they are good ones! We hope to be in Thailand about 3 more months and then continue on exploring South East Asia for the next couple of years. I would totally recommend a single mom and girl, I have wondered before if something ever happened to Jarrett if I would continue travelling with the boys and I believe I would. I have never felt unsafe, but I have also most of the time had Jarrett with me. I know there are many single women that travel and even some who travel with a child have you read http://www.travelswithanineyearold.com, or http://www.raisingmiro.com? Travelling with children generally gets you extra special attention and help, I think you would find other cultures very welcoming of a mother with a child. Jarrett is just now starting to look for a teaching job, the reason we chose Thailand is because there are English jobs here that pay enough for you to live on. I have not been here long enough to hear about a Special Needs teacher, I would imagine that would be a job that would be very needed here and everywhere in the world. I would just start emailing schools, maybe International ones in countries you are interested in. I know there is a place out there for you and your daughter to live a life of travel, its just a matter of finding it and getting going! I will keep my ears open for special needs teaching jobs. I understand while you want to travel and keep your baby’s love of life fresh and free. It is very special and we are so happy to be exploring the world right now with the boys. xoxo
